My Tirzepatide Weight Loss Journey: How GLP-1 Led Me to Peptide Research

From calorie counting to peptide research — this is how my journey started.

About Me

Welcome to The Peptide Breakdown.

This page started from a very personal journey — one that began with weight loss but eventually turned into a deep interest in peptide research and education.

I’m 42 years old, married for 17 years, and a mom of two boys (both over 17). Like many people, I spent years trying to manage my weight the traditional way.

Two years ago, I committed to tracking everything:
Every calorie.
Every meal.
Every bite.

And it worked — temporarily.

I went from 180 lbs to 150 lbs in about four months. But maintaining it felt exhausting.

Within three months, I gained back 20 pounds.

That’s when my journey with Tirzepatide began.

Starting Tirzepatide

In April, I started a GLP-1/GIP medication called Tirzepatide at 172 lbs.

The difference for me was huge.

It helped regulate appetite and made it easier to make better choices without feeling like I was constantly fighting hunger.

Instead of obsessively counting calories, I was able to focus on:

  • Eating healthier
  • Cooking better meals
  • Exercising regularly
  • Building sustainable habits

Today, I’m 126 lbs.

My original goal was actually 135 lbs, so I’m not trying to lose any more weight.

I now microdose for maintenance and focus heavily on working out and fueling my body properly.

And yes — I eat.
I eat healthy.
I cook healthy.
I enjoy food.

For people who say “you’ll gain it all back once you stop” — my personal decision is to stay on a very low maintenance dose rather than return to the cycle of extreme dieting.

How This Led Me Into Peptide Research

Starting a GLP-1 opened the door to something I didn’t expect — a fascination with peptide science.

I started researching how peptides work, why they affect metabolism and recovery, and what other peptides are being studied for healing, longevity, and performance.

The more I learned, the more I realized there was a lot of confusion, hype, and misinformation online.

So I thought:

Why not start sharing what I’m learning?

That’s how The Peptide Breakdown was born.

I created educational content to break down peptide research in a way that’s easier to understand.

Real life.
Not sales pitches.
Just information, research, and discussion.

What You’ll Find Here

On this site and my social pages I share:

Peptide education
Research summaries
Peptide comparisons
Personal experiences
Protocol discussions (for educational purposes)

I’ll also share parts of my personal journey, including what my Tirzepatide progression looked like.

My Philosophy

Facts, Not Fluff
Stronger, Not Smaller

There is a lot of noise in the peptide space.
My goal is to help people understand what research actually says.
